The William Stewart Foundation

Our Sister Charity

Our sister charity, Friends of the William Stewart Centre Malawi was formed to raise funds and awareness of our work. It was registered by OSCR – Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator – in May 2019 – SCO49329, and Sarah Black is its lead trustee and Development Manager.

The charity also handles the processes of some of the programmes which the Foundation has implemented, the outcomes and progress of which can be seen in detail on the sister charity’s own website.

It acts as the liaison between donors and sponsors and the Foundation; it initiates fundraising drives; collects and sends donated items to us. A linked charity in the UK has financial advantages to the Foundation, too. It means that gift aid can now be applied to donations; funders which require a UK charity are now open to us and, instead of the tortuous route we had to previously employ for monetary donations, it’s now simply a case of sending to the SCIO’s bank account.

As a result of COVID-19, many more people are shopping online. If you use Amazon, a reminder that by keying in AmazonSmile instead of Amazon (your account is the same) you can choose a charity to support. Our UK charity – Friends of the William Stewart Centre - is registered in the programme; Amazon donate 0.5% of the net purchase price. When you have registered the charity of your choice, next time round Amazon asks if you want to switch over to Smile Amazon if you don’t remember to key Smile in your browser.

All the pennies donated through Smile Amazon quickly mount up so please consider supporting our work in this way. Shop on AmazonSmile.
